The Surgeon Artists League invites surgeons to support drawing, painting, and sculpture as an integral part of their professional and social lives. These disciplines are presumed to enhance those qualities that contribute to improved professional performance through enhancing observation, keenness, empathy, conflict resolution, self-awareness, communication, storytelling, and creativity; and, the spiritual qualities of understanding, compassion, love, mercy, and forgiveness. In sum, visual arts enhance life’s experiences and potentially enhance surgical technique and patient care.
